Istrian Peninsula


The province of Istria is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. The peninsula is located in the far north of the Adriatic between the Gulf of Trieste and the Bay of Kvarner. GeographicalIy the peninsula of Istria has the Ćićarija mountain range being part of the Alps, of which the Učka mountain is the highest. r23.jpgImportant rivers deriving from the Ćićarija mountains are Dragonja, Mirna and Raša. Excursions to the plentiful and beautiful situated harbours along the extensive Adriatic sea coast also known as Plava Istra or Blue Istria, include towns like Novigrad, Poreč, Vrsar, Rovinj, Pula with its beautiful coves along its beaches, Medulin and Umag where international tennis tournaments take place.
